My Voice

My name is Shannen Shine, I am attending the Art Institute Of Las Vegas majoring in Fashion Retail Management and working on achieving my Bachelors In Science. I have many goals in life and one major one is to become a stylist when I finish school. I've always loved fashion and the arts and want to have a career doing something that I love. Being a stylist would mean that I would be in charge of anything from identifying the location for a photo shoot, to picking the wardrobe for a magazine's fashion spread, to pulling outfits for clients to wear at events. Once I have more experience under my belt of course I hope to become an independent stylist. “I think there is beauty in everything. What ‘normal’ people would perceive as ugly, I can usually see something of beauty in it.” — Alexander McQueen. It takes a person with a good eye to see something normal people would think is ugly and see beauty in it. That's the mindset I think people have to have if you want to pursue something in fashion. In the meantime I enjoy continuing to learn about the business that one day I want to be apart in. Each in every day that I have class I learn new and interesting things about the business. I can feel my mind growing and expanding when taking in all this amazing information. Fashion is a way people express themselves. Marc Jacobs once said " clothes mean nothing until someone lives in them" Until you step inside an outfit thats when those clothes really become alive.

Week 1 EOC: How To Make It In America

In this episode of How to Make It in America they used 3,000 dollars that they got to buy up a roll of high-interest loan from Rene, Ben and Cam buy up a roll of ( hot) premium-denim material, but then hit a series of dead ends in their search to find a manufacturer to make samples of their " crisp" brand of retro 70s jeans. What I really like about this episode of "crips" is it really teaches you about trying to create a brand of clothing in New York. They are young and determined to making their dreams come true. It teaches you how to market and make connections. Along the way they kinda crash a late night dinner with a top fashion designer into brainstorming meeting that may or may not, hold the key to their entrepreneurial success. If you are a fashion savvy person who would one day like to create your own brand or even if you just love fashion or love marketing this show is for you. It's easy to relate to and they make things easy to understand. The main two cast of this show Ben and Cam play these characters well making it the show just seem like something that you can be apart of. Its a show a lot of young entrepreneurs can learn from and possible get some cool ideas on " How To Make It In America".
